Wrapping paper alternatives for Christmas – love of order

Zack, Christmas is just around the corner again and I'm about to start the packaging madness. And every year I am amazed that it takes HOURS to wrap each gift in paper, tie a bow around it and maybe even add a little decoration. HOURS! I find the first 60 minutes contemplative, but over the next few hours the Christmas spirit fades and eventually ends in alcohol or lovelessness. So how about Christmas without wrapping paper? Today I'm going to show you a few wrapping paper alternatives.

Wrapping paper alternatives are not only more ecological

So I would argue that the time saved alone is a real argument against wrapping paper. In fact, there are a number of other things that speak against it – for example the ecological aspect. However, so that there are no children's tears because of the lack of excitement, and I also find it a bit unkind to give unwrapped gifts, I have put together a few environmentally friendly wrapping paper alternatives for you.

Some can be implemented super quickly, others require a bit of crafting, but in the end you don't have to wade through mountains of paper! By the way, most of the ideas for Christmas without wrapping paper are recyclable and can easily be used again next year.

Number 1: The paper bag or bag

In the USA it is often used gift packaging (you stuff a bit of colorful tissue paper on top so that you can't see the contents straight away). In contrast to the purchased version, which is often made of laminated paper and is not recyclable, you can collect and decorate beautiful paper bags throughout the year. If you don't like crafting: Of course there are also ecological versions available to buy ready-made!

Fabric bags that you can either sew yourself or buy ready-made are also great. I also really like using the bags that you get when you buy shoes if they are pretty.

By the way, I ordered these bags with names printed on them this year as a wrapping paper alternative for our family. A lot fits in there and I have a great overview!

Number 2: Box, box and shoebox

The second variant for Christmas without wrapping paper is not dissimilar to the first, except that all kinds of boxes are reused. Save pretty (!) boxes and use them as luxurious packaging. I probably don't have to mention that this doesn't mean the run-of-the-mill packaging for hiking boots…

Number 3: The packaging is the gift

I especially love this version! Anyone like cooking? then off with the gift to, for example, Maison Jars. A nice box is great for those who love order, while travel freaks will be happy to receive their gift in a bag that they can later use as a shoe bag. With the Japanese way of wrapping gifts, you can then use the materials used as a scarf!

So you can have double the fun here and get really creative at the same time! Bento boxes, laundry bags and even beeswax paper can be used as gift wrapping and then reused! So it's not that difficult to celebrate Christmas without wrapping paper!

By the way, you will soon find the instructions for the Japanese packaging method here.
