Fundamentals of MLM Prospecting

If you are into multi-level marketing, you should be able to know how the process of MLM prospecting works.  This process involves repeated activities that you would need to do everyday to obtain success from your MLM business.  You would have to repeat activities including generating leads, qualifying leads, presenting your business, collecting decisions, and following up.

Generating leads – This is an activity in the prospecting process in which you are obliged to do.  You have to generate the leads on your own or buy the leads from other MLM marketers.  This activity is important because if you do not have any lead, there is not one to prospect.

Qualifying leads – This is an activity in the prospecting process in which you have to qualify the leads you have generated.  This means that you only choose the leads that are most likely to join and support your network.  You only need the right persons to qualify as a legitimate lead.

Presenting your business – Once you have qualified your leads, the next activity is to present your business to your prospects.  You can do this by yourself or have it automated.

Collecting decisions – This is an activity in the prospecting process in which you collect the decisions of your prospects.  This comes after your prospects have learned or become aware of the presentation of your business.  You only have to obtain the decisions of those who are most likely to join your network.

Following up – This is an activity in the prospecting process in which you have to follow up with your prospects who are interested but prefer a call back from you.
 

If you have a home business you may be like I was and are online constantly doing all kinds of crazy stuff trying to build your business, getting sidetracked by all kinds of crazy ads and gimmicks that you get bombarded with that will supposedly explode your business.

In this quick post I am going to share with you the main secret to building a business while having a life.  A top income earner and mentor of mine gave me this bit of wisdom and it holds very true in every business. What he told me is ” The number 1 thing you have to do in your business is RECRUIT, The number 2 thing you need to do is RECRUIT, Number 3, RECRUIT.  I heard it so much that I sort of ignored it.

What I really didn’t understand was that is all you really need to do. I finally started to get it when I started following Dani Johnson. She taught me that 80 percent of my time whether it be 2 or 4 hours per day needs to be prospecting. Not doing presentations, not doing a million 3 way calls, not taking incoming calls from your team members, not doing all that stuff during prime time business building time.

You need to focus all of your attention on prospecting during that time of day. What this does is that it lowers stress and focuses your attention on what really builds your business and brings in the most amount of money in the shortest period of time and obviously brings in the most people and creates the most duplication because you will teach your team to do the same thing in focusing on what matters. Prospecting!

The true definition of a leader is leading by example and if you lead with the activity that produces the most results, your team will do the same thing and create the highest level of duplication.

First let me say that the reason most people fail in this business is frustration.

People get started in network marketing and are quickly frustrated when they do not achieve instant success or get a couple of No’s from friends. A big part of the reason for their failure in many cases is that they are approaching their business feeling as if they have to be an instant expert or try to do a long drawn out pitch on the business and totally turn off the prospect within the first paragraph.

They are so excited about their business that they launch into a tangent about the business and frighten most of the prospects away.

The real secret to success in Network Marketing is Keep It Simple!

The following includes the Magic Phrase I and many of the Leaders in my company use with great success. This can be used all day long in all kinds of situations. Let’s say you are having a cup of coffee in a diner. During the course of your interaction with the waitress you say, “I’m just throwing this out there, this may or may not be for you, but would you be interested in a side project to generate an additional income that won’t interfere with what you are doing now?” 9 times out of ten they will be interested.

Do you then launch into a full blown tirade about the business? NO!

You say, “Great I’m real busy right now and have to get going but if you give me your name, email and phone I’ll get the info to you later today.”

If I have a CD which our team uses to open people to the opportunity I’ll leave that with her. The cd has my name and contact info on it as well as a URL to one of our full presentation.

This is a very non stressful, low key way to present your business. You can do this all day long in all kinds of situations and it will get you sign ups and team members that can easily recreate what you are doing!

Do you think you can ask that one simple phrase to 5 to 10 people a day? If you answered no to that you better just stick to your day or night job.

There is no need to be an Internet marketing guru or buy thousands of dollars worth of  latest greatest lead generating tools to try to succeed. Leads are all around you out there every day! People who are tired of the grind of working 40 years until retirement only to find out they have to be a greeter at Walmart or a metal detector guy, at the local courthouse because their retirement is not enough to pay the bills and live even near the way they did when they worked full time let alone being able to enjoy themselves.

This One simple non-aggressive phrase can open the door to your internet marketing success and allow you to help many others do the same.
