Use Profile Review To Increase Your Facebook Privacy

Facebook has just recently made available probably the most significant improvements to their privacy level settings in the last few years. Included in this, there’s one completely new functionality which you really need to activate as soon as it is available to you: Profile Review.

Here’s the skinny on just how you go about activating profile review:

Step 1. Click on “account” in the top right corner of the page, then click on “privacy settings.”

Step 2. Next to “how tags work,” click “edit settings.”

Step 3. Within the “how tags work” pop-up, click “edit” next to “profile review.”

Step 4. Found in the next pop-up, click “turn on profile review.”

At this point, in the event you are tagged in a photo or a someone’s post, you will  have to approve it before it is allowed to show up on your news feed as well as your wall.

Tagged posts and also photos will show up inside your profile wall in a brand new section labeled as “pending posts.”

Images or posts tagged with your name will still be visible on your friend’s wall and feed, which means your common friends will see them however Facebook now provides you with the choice to ask your friend to take down photos of you that you really do not like. And, of course,  you can always block a friend who won’t give consideration to your request for removal of items related to you that you do not approve of.

Take Control

The addition of profile review is quite significant since it gives you significantly more control over your profile.

Even though some of these privacy changes do incorporate certain potentially troublesome changes, specifically in the way your information is shared by using applications, Facebook has presented you a tool to make it a little less simple for other people to tag you. My own suggestion is to Enable this feature!
